New school campus in Pforzheim: Future for children with special needs!
Pforzheim, Deutschland - Pforzheim/Enzkreis. A gigantic school project is in the starting blocks! The "New Campus Buckenberg" will revolutionize the educational landscape, even if the first construction work is still a long time in coming. Mayor Peter Boch and District Administrator Bastian Rosenau revealed the ambitious plans in a press conference: In addition to the existing Buckenberg School, two new schools are to be built-the bored school for students with learning difficulties and the Gustav-Heinemann school, which focuses on the promotion of children with intellectual, physical and motor development needs.
The urgency of this project is obvious! The Gustav Heinemann School had to close due to serious fire protection defects in 2017 and the students have been distributed to various interim locations since then. The Bohrain School also suffers from lack of space and can currently only teach classes 4 to 9, while elementary school students are housed in the Buckenberg School. The new building will not only improve the spatial situation, but also promote school development in the region and relieve the rapidly growing Weiherberg School.
a central location for everyone
Why this location? The answer is simple: many students from the Gustav Heinemann School come from Pforzheim, and a central location significantly shortens the long journey routes. Since many of the children are dependent on special means of transport, traffic planning is also brought into focus from the start. Talks with the Buckenberg-Haidach citizens' association have already taken place to find the best solutions.
The advantages of a common campus are enormous! "With this future project we want to beat several birds with one stone," said the two heads of administration. It is about optimal conditions for the joint schooling of children with and without disabilities, synergy effects in the use of rooms and sports facilities as well as the creation of meeting opportunities. The goal is great cooperation!
In December it gets serious: When the political decision-makers from the district council and Pforzheimer municipal council give the green light, an architectural competition starts and a 20-member project commission is being formed. The first steps have already been taken-the basic decisions were made in 2022 and a homepage for the project went online: www.schulcampus-buckenberg.de. Here is all current information about this exciting major project!
