New school campus in Pforzheim: Education for everyone under one roof!

Pforzheim, Deutschland - PFORZHEIM/Enzkreis. An exciting major project is in the starting blocks: the "Neubau Campus Buckenberg"! Pforzheim's mayor Peter Boch and District Administrator Bastian Rosenau have unveiled the plans for the construction of three schools in a press conference. In addition to the Buckenberg School, a primary school, the bored school for children with learning problems and the Gustav Heinemann School for children with special needs are to be rebuilt. These schools are of enormous importance for the city of Pforzheim and the Enzkreis because they play a central role in education for children with special requirements.

The Gustav Heinemann School had to close in 2017 due to serious fire protection defects and distribute its students to various interim locations. The Bohrain School also has to deal with space problems because it can only accommodate parts of its classes in its current location. The new building will not only remove the spatial bottlenecks, but will also revolutionize school development in the region. The bored school is brought together at a new location, which will further deepen the existing collaborations with the Buckenberg School.

The choice of the location is strategic: Many students from the Gustav Heinemann School come from Pforzheim, which helps avoid long journey routes. Since many of these children are dependent on special means of transport, mobility and traffic planning is included in project development from the start. Talks with the Buckenberg-Haidach citizens' association have already taken place to find the best solutions for everyone involved.

The two heads of administration emphasize that this future project pursues several goals: optimal conditions for the joint schooling of children with and without disabilities, synergy effects through cooperation and flexible use of rooms. The political bodies of the district council and Pforzheimer municipal council will decide on the further course in December. An architectural competition could soon follow to put the campus' vision into reality.
