Experts reveal: This is how your fruit trees remain strong and healthy!

In the next few weeks, courses specializing in the Enzkreis will be offered for professional fruit tree cuts, which represent an important learning option for all garden lovers and hobby gardeners. The practical applications are not only important for the care of fruit trees, but also crucial in order to secure the quality and yield of the fruits in the long term.

According to current studies from the universities of Hohenheim and Tübingen, the right cut is one of the most important measures that contribute to the health and fertility of fruit trees. Especially in the initial phase, when the educational cut is carried out, it is necessary to create a stable crown framework that keeps the trees stable even with a high fruit set. In the case of older trees, however, everything revolves around the preservation of their vitality and stability.

course content and structure

"The care of old trees requires a deep understanding and individual approach" explains Bernhard Reisch, fruit growing consultant at the Enzkreis Agricultural Office. The courses that he has been offering for years in the winter months are designed to convey the main knowledge of the cutting of fruit trees in a practical manner to the participants. Above all, it is important to learn techniques that benefit the trees and are easy to use at the same time. The participants are familiarized with ladders, scissors and saws and can practice directly at different fruit tree species.

A highlight of the offer is a three -day basic course that will take place from December 5th to 7th. Here the participation costs 100 euros and includes both the cut of half and high stems as well as special fruit starts such as peach and sour cherry. In addition, there are two other two-day basic courses on the 3rd and 4th and on January 24th and 25th, 2025, which focus on the cut of half and high trunks. These courses cost 70 euros per person.

supplementary offer and registration

The course offer is aimed at interested parties from Pforzheim and the Enzkreis, although no previous knowledge is required. The theoretical share is supplemented by evening online lectures on various specialist topics of fruit growing, so that the participants can also learn from home. The courses only take up a limited number of participants, which is why it is necessary to register in good time by November 11 at the latest. Registrations are via the website www.enzkreis.de/obstbaumschnock courses possible.

The organized course not only is a good opportunity to learn how to manage craftsmanship, but also to exchange ideas with like -minded people and share experiences. The commitment of the agricultural office for the promotion of this knowledge is an important step to preserve and continue the long-standing fruit growing tradition in the region.
