Dark dinner in Keltern: a festival for the senses!

in Keltern, the guests experienced an unforgettable adventure with a "dinner in the Dark". In the middle of complete darkness they were kidnapped into the fascinating world of the senses. The event took place in the meeting room of the Ellmendingen town hall and not only offered delicious dishes, but also the unique opportunity to discover the interaction of the senses in a new way.

When the lights went out and the guests put on their sleeping glasses, the room turned into a culinary mystery. Only the green emergency lights shone weakly in the dark. Each bite had to be treated carefully, while the helpers of the Keltern inclusion council took care of the physical well -being. "There was great interest," reported the deputy chairwoman Sabrina Bogner-Rudolf, who was responsible for the success of the event with numerous volunteers. Your goal: create sensitization and understanding for people with visual impairments.

a special taste of the special kind

The guests were curious about the lovingly prepared dishes, which were given a completely new meaning at the "Dinner in the Dark". From the potato waffle with herb dip to spinach gnocchi to the chocolate mousse-every gear fascinated the participants. In order to improve the enjoyment, the organizers had ensured that the dishes were easy to find, even in the dark. "We want to show people how diverse and exciting taste can be," said Bogner-Rudolf. And this succeeds - only the sense of touch remained during the food to discover the unexpected.

An absolute highlight: the proven tricks to eat independently without causing a mess. So you kept your finger in the glass to feel the liquid, and the service taped gently on the shoulder so as not to scare the guests. A total of eight dedicated helpers were on duty, and the estimated support from local sponsors created it to promote inclusive games for children in Dietlingen. The "Dinner in the Dark" could undoubtedly become a permanent tradition in Keltern!
