Financial crisis in the Calw district: District Administrator warns of bitter times!

In the district of Calw, the times of financial abundance are over. District Administrator Helmut Riegger presented the district council a very deficient household that has the alarm bells ring. The numbers are alarming: a deficit of 27.4 million euros is compared to a total amount of 308 million euros, while the income is only 281 million. This household not only represents a new low for the district, but also throws a shadow on future investments that are urgently necessary to keep the region sustainable, such as the Black Forest Bode reported.

In order to meet the financial challenges, Riegger confirmed the need to significantly tighten the investment list. The most important planned projects are a new clinic in Calw and the expansion of another clinic in Nagold, for which around 155 million euros are planned. However, these projects are criticized because some district councils require a shift or restriction of other investments. So Volker Schuler, the chairman of the free voters, argued that it was more important to reduce debt burden, and the AfD also opposed the budget because it rejects new debt in the current economic situation, such as PZ-NEWS highlighted.

Future investments are on the brink

Investments in digital infrastructure such as fast internet connections and the revival of the Hesse-Bahn between Calw and Renningen are also to be promoted. Nevertheless, the financial worries of the municipalities and the impending financial pressure on the district office have strengthened the need to prioritize. Riegger took the concerns of the district councils Ernst and wants to develop a solid financial strategy that not only takes a look at short -term goals, but also the future stability. The constant admission of the district councils indicate that the change of landscape, paired with scarce means, exerts growing pressure on the administration.

Despite the dark sign, Riegger remains optimistic and emphasizes the importance of responsible financial planning. "We have to be tough now to create a good future for the next generation," he said. The possibility of using interest -free loans could help the district to secure the financial basis for the upcoming projects and to create a perspective that supports citizens and municipalities.
