Serious accident on A60: Four injured and hours -long traffic jams in Mainz

A dramatic rear -end collision caused massive traffic problems on Friday afternoon on the A60 near Mainz! At 2:20 p.m., the alarming emergency call of a vehicle received the emergency services aware of a serious traffic accident between the Lerchenberg and Finthen junctions. The professional fire brigade and the Bretzenheim volunteer fire brigade were immediately alert.

The first emergency services arrived and reported on a devastating accident with three cars. A BMW raced to a van at high speed, which in turn was pushed into a third vehicle. Although the initial report did not apply to a burning car, the rescue workers could not help but evaluate the extent of the destruction: two of the vehicles involved stood across the road. The four inmates between the ages of 21 and 64 suffered injuries and were immediately transported to Hospitals in Mainz - luckily without danger

use of the fire brigade and months of traffic jams

With an impressive contingent of five vehicles and 28 firefighters, the batteries of the damaged cars were disconnected and leaked liquids were removed. The full closure of the A60 continued until after 4 p.m., which led to a catastrophic traffic jam of about five kilometers towards Bingen. But that wasn't all! On the oncoming lane, too, the cars build up due to onlookers who slow down to the speed of walking to catch a glimpse of the scene of the accident - an extremely dangerous action that caused outrage for the fire brigade.

The rapid reaction of the rescue workers helped prevent worse things, but the effects of the full closure will remain noticeable for a long time. With every moment the highway is blocked, the frustration of drivers grows. An incident that not only puts the road, but also the nerves of the commuters to the test!
