Owingen celebrates: The first step towards turbosmenelle internet in the Lake Constance district!

Joy in Owingen: The broadband funding project of the special purpose association BREADBAND Bodenseekreis (ZVBB) celebrates a brilliant success! On October 2nd, the innovative fiber optic network finally went online - 24 months after the groundbreaking ceremony. Owingen is the first of ten communities that are supplied with fast internet and thus takes a decisive step into the digital future.

At a time when fast internet is indispensable, around 700 households in Owingen have access to data transfer rates of up to one gigabit per second. This is a revolutionary improvement for everyone who previously had to cope with modest 30 Mbit/s. "The expansion of this fiber optic network now provides access to a powerful digital infrastructure," cheered Bernhard Schultes, Managing Director of ZVBB.

Mega Investitution for Mega Internet!

Over 10 million euros were invested in the project, with almost 90 percent of the federal and state costs being funded. With a whopping 5 million euros from the federal funding program and another 4 million euros from the Ministry of Digitization, the path for this technological revolution was paved. "The close cooperation of everyone involved was the key to the quick success," explains Mayor Mr. Wengert enthusiastically.

In just 22 months, Leonhard Weiss GmbH has laid new fiber optic cables over 197 kilometers and installed 368 house connections. After the official handover, the network was quickly made productive, so that Teledata GmbH immediately ensured a liquid operation. "We are pleased to offer the citizens strong internet and great service!", Announces Armin Walter, commercial managing director of Teledata, full of enthusiasm.

But the trip does not end here! Those responsible have already become the next phase of expansion and want to take the so -called "gray spots" to the finish. These addresses with internet speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s are also to be connected to the fast network by the end of 2025. Owingen heralds the digital age!
