With the new central clinic, which has been enthroned on the health campus since 2021, Biberach has positioned itself well, but the upcoming hurdles are anything but trivial.

2024 The year of records: A steep increase in inpatient treatments is expected, with over 18,900 cases! This is more than before pandemic! But the dark side of this positive development is alarming: the clinic predicts a deficit of up to two million euros. The operating costs explode and the pressure on the financial means is enormous. Jörißen makes it clear: "We expect a negative annual result for the first time!" All over Germany, the clinic deficits add up to terrifying 900 million euros - the situation is serious!

Looking for solutions

But the Sana clinics do not give up! Your answer to the shortage of skilled workers and the current challenges is impressive: the number of nurses has been increased by 39 percent since 2021! Innovative training programs and the integration of international specialists have an effect. "We have successfully trained our youngsters and we were able to continue working many graduates," explains Jörißen proudly.

In Biberach, digitization is also being worked on: New systems for patient management and electronic patient files should accelerate the processes and offer employees more time for patient care. At the same time, the emergency rooms are relieved by new general medical practices - a truly exciting development!

The Biberacher Clinic takes on a pioneering role! With structural and digital adjustments, the Sana is preparing for the major challenges of German hospital reform. "The concentration on a central clinic was the right step at the right time," emphasizes Jörißen. The changes will come - and Biberach is ready!
