Biberach cheers: Historical Stahlsteg open again after five years!

Biberach, Deutschland - Finally the time has come! After five long years of uncertainty and blocking, the historic pedestrian bridge at Biberach station shines again in new splendor. The steel web, which was built in 1909 and is popularly known as the "Green Bridge", will be released for pedestrians on Tuesday after a truck rams the bridge in December 2019 and caused considerable damage.

The repair work dragged on for years, since legal disputes between the insurance company and Deutsche Bahn disabled the popular transition. But the wait was worth it! The city administration has now ensured safe lighting, which previously longed for the supplier's bankruptcy. Thanks to the new LED lights, pedestrians can now cross the bridge safely at night.

Some work is still made up of

Despite the reopening, the bridge has not yet been completed. It will be closed again next spring to make a new coating on the covering. This last work is intended to ensure that the "Green Bridge" will continue to be a safe and beautiful transition to the tracks in the future. Pedestrians in Biberach can look forward to a comfortable and safe way that is finally accessible again!
