A new star in the school sky of Ehingen! Ute Brandenburg, a teacher at the Schmiechterschule since 2006, was ceremoniously appointed the new headmistress. The event in the school's foyer was a spectacle: students performed a play, there was a moving video and numerous speeches by invited guests. District Administrator Heiner Scheffold opened the celebrations and praised Brandenburg as the "wish person" for this important position.

Scheffold emphasized that Brandenburg not only had to master the administrative tasks, but should also specify the pedagogical direction. The Schmiechtal School, a special educational and advisory center (SBBZ), has experienced an increase in the number of students in recent years, which is due to the growing demand for special funding offers. But the school faces a major challenge: the acute lack of teachers. "They manage a defect in the future," warned Scheffold and pointed out that there is no qualified staff in special education.

A strong team behind the new headmistress

The inaugural speech by Ute Brandenburg was characterized by gratitude to her college. "Without you, the Schmiechtenschule would not be what it is," she explained, emphasizing the importance of the team spirit. Alexander Bochtler, managing director for all Ehingen schools, was pleased that all schools in Ehingen now have a management again. "We are finally complete again," he said, and was convinced that Brandenburg will continue to advance school with her skills.

The teachers and the parents' advisory board emphasized the cohesion and the valuable work of Brandenburg as the principal. "The day today is in the good days of the history of the Schmiechtal School," said Susanne Späth-Häußler and expressed confidence in the new headmistress. Brandenburg, who could not imagine becoming a headmistress for a long time, has now taken the step to put new impulses and to lead the school into a successful future.
