Biosphere area Schwäbische Alb: 500 euros for flowering insect paradise!

An exciting project for promoting biodiversity has started in three municipalities in the UNESCO biosphere area of Schwäbische Alb! Bad Urach, Westerheim and Münsingen are committed to creating pollinator -friendly plantings and each receive 500 euros from the biosphere area. This initiative aims to improve the habitats for insects and to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity.

In Bad Urach, numerous plants in the park "Green Heart" are already blooming that attract insects. A new garden is being built at the Alb-Hall in Westerheim, where Mayor Hartmut Walz and other local actors recently celebrated a donation handover. Louisa Häußler from the Tress brothers handed over 500 euros to the biosphere area association to support planting in Westerheim. These funds come from a field study that examined the willingness to pay for the "true price" of food.

A price for the environment

Through their study, the tress brothers found that guests are willing to pay more for food if they understand the hidden costs caused by environmental damage. These findings flow directly into the "It buzzes and hums - biodiversity -promoting measures in the settlement area". The collected donations of 302 euros were rounded up to 500 euros to support the plantings.

Hartmut Walz, the mayor of Westerheim, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: "The planting should not only delight people, but also benefit the insects." The action is a concrete step to strengthen the awareness of biodiversity in the region and to encourage people to make a contribution in their own gardens and balconies.
