Therme Erding sold: What does that mean for the future?
At the thermal baths in Germany there is an exciting time: Jörg Wund, the owner of the renowned thermal baths, has reportedly sold his company, as the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported. The 25th anniversary of the thermal bath was celebrated only two months ago, and while Wund spoke about possible investments at the time, the change of owners was undefined. The company has not officially confirmed this, but plans to publish a press release that is to be announced on Tuesday.
Modern redesign of the Limes-Thermen
At the same time, the Limes thermal baths in Aalen receive an extensive renovation concept that is to be implemented from 2027. As the Schwäbische Post are planned to modernize the older facilities. The thermal bath, which is almost 40 years old, is reopened after a two-year renovation phase under the name "Limes-Thermen 2.0". New sauna landscapes and larger relaxation areas are planned, while the technology is extensively renewed.
The first details of the plan provide to tear down the sauna area and instead to build a two-storey new building with a sauna garden. The existing building should be preserved because those responsible want to preserve the timeless architecture that is reminiscent of Tuscany. Stadtwerke Aalen expect this conversion not only increase the attractiveness of the Limes-Thermen, but can also generate future profits. The previous deficit from 2019 to 2022 of 7.8 million euros is to be overcome by these investments.
