Emergency room Schorndorf: Angela Rothermel expects patient rush!
Schorndorf, Deutschland - The Rems-Murr clinics are preparing for a massive increase in patients! Dr. Angela Rothermel, the new chief doctor of the emergency room in Schorndorf, is certain: "Our patient numbers will increase!" The reasons? A restructuring of the clinics in the adjacent Ostalbkreis and the demographic development, which drives more and more older and chronically ill people into the emergency room.
The discussion about the future of the Ostalb clinics has made high waves in the past few weeks. Especially in Ellwangen, there are concerns that the restrictions on the emergency room at the Virn Grundklinikum could lead to an overload of the emergency rooms in Aalen and Mutlangen. The city councilor Manuel Reiger has already pointed out the alarming situation in the Ostalb Clinic Aalen, where the load limit has often been reached.
emergency rooms under pressure
The planned closures of emergency practices in Ellwangen, Backnang and Schorndorf also tighten the situation. Rothermel emphasizes that the emergency rooms in Schorndorf have to prepare for an increase in patients who have so far been treated in Mutlangen. The Rems-Murr clinics are already one step further: a new functional building is being built in Schorndorf, which is expected to open in 2027 and will offer a modern emergency room with more rooms and treatment places.
The challenges are enormous, because the clinics are not only faced with an increase in emergency patients, but also with a growing number of people with dementia symptoms and chronic diseases. Time is pushing and the Rems-Murr clinics are determined to adjust to the upcoming changes!Details | |
