Audi in crisis mode: Employees fear for their future in Brussels!
Brüssel, Belgien - in the heart of Brüssels there is a risk of radical change for the 3,000 Audi employees. The car manufacturer has announced that production in his plant will be stopped at the end of February. The reason for this are the stagnating sales figures of the only model, the Elektro-SUV Q8 Etron, as well as the high logistics costs, due to the location of the factory and lack of suppliers nearby. Audi production board member Gerd Walker announced that the company will spend more than twice as much for severance payments than required by law to cushion the upcoming layoffs. This includes a voluntary company offer that is offered to the employees in addition to the statutory termination allowance. As reported by Vienna.at, individual severance payments for long-term employees between 125,000 and 190,000 euros are finally offered.
The negotiations on a common social plan have failed. Audi was unable to agree on a corresponding plan with the employee representatives, and the sixth offer was already rejected, as Audi himself announced. Without such a plan, the company is legally restricted, for example, it cannot offer additional age regulations for employees over 60. This uncertain situation throws shadows on the future of employees, while Audi, like the parent company Volkswagen, is in a crisis. Despite constant talks in Ingolstadt to avoid operating dismissals in Germany, the outcome of the situation in Brussels remains uncertain. This reports the time with the focus on the failed negotiations.
