Dramatic accident series in Villach: Fire brigade in continuous use!
On December 19, 2024, there were two dramatic traffic accidents in Villach, which resulted in extensive rescue measures. Shortly before 10 a.m., the main fire station Villach and the Judendorf volunteer fire brigade was alerted after two vehicles collided frontally in Federauen. When they arrived, the emergency services discovered that there was still one person inside one of the vehicles. With the help of a “spineboard” and technical device, the fire brigade was able to save the injured in cooperation with the Red Cross. A total of three people were injured by the emergency doctor and were transported to the LKH Villach with injuries to the LKH Villach, as ORF Carinthia reported.
While the first group of operations was still busy cleaning up, the forces were called for another serious accident on the A2. About 400 meters from the first scene of the accident, a 51-year-old complaint for unknown reasons had strayed from the road for unknown reasons, rolled over and had crashed into several trees. Here, too, quick help was necessary: the fire brigades Gödersdorf, Drobollach and the main fire station Villach had to free the seriously injured driver from his totally damaged vehicle. After the immediate emergency medical care, the man was flown to the Klagenfurt Clinic with the RK 1 rescue helicopter, which illustrates the dramatic events on this day.
A look at the fire brigade history of Villachs
The fire department Villach has a long and remarkable story that goes back to 1865 when the "Committee of the Provisional Fire Brigade" was founded. Over the years, the equipment has always been adapted to technical progress, which is crucial for coping with emergencies. The first commanding was under Blasius Tomz, and in 1890 the central fire engine was inaugurated on Hans-Gasser-Platz. Since then, the fire brigade has grown and modernized in order to meet the increasing requirements in action, as the chronicle on the website of the fire brigade Villach reports.
