Ballet Wanderer”: A celebration for Caspar David Friedrich in Greifswald!
The Görlitz cultural association Ars Augusta e.V. presents the ballet “Wanderer” in the STRAZE in Greifswald shortly before Christmas. This extraordinary piece, which combines piano music with projections of Caspar David Friedrich's famous paintings, is part of the anniversary events marking his 250th birthday. With this work, choreographer Eleni Ioannidou honors not only the painter himself, but also the English poet Lord Byron, who died 200 years ago in Greece. Her creative vision combines dance, music by Franz Liszt and Fryderyk Chopin as well as digital technology to tell the artists and their fates in an impressive way webmoritz.de reported.
Premiere and special performances
The premiere will take place on Friday, December 20th at 7pm, followed by a matinee on Saturday, December 21st at 11am. Tickets are available for 15 euros, while entry is free for teenagers and children up to 18 years old. An important aspect of the event is the funding from the Federal Government for Culture and Media and the city of Greifswald, which underlines the cultural significance of the project, as is also reflected in the positive reporting greifswald.de is highlighted.
Caspar David Friedrich, who was born in Greifswald on September 5, 1774, is considered one of the most influential Romantic painters. His deep experiences of nature and hikes shaped his artistic work and led to masterpieces that are valued worldwide today. His connections to his hometown of Greifswald and the surrounding regions are strongly anchored in his art and his life. The ballet “Wanderer” is therefore not only a homage to his works, but also to his roots, which are deeply rooted in the culture of Greifswald.
