In addition, the Hans Sauer Prize 2025 is announced, which aims to honor outstanding research work and innovative initiatives under the motto “Transformative Education – Learning to Shape Society”. The deadline for applications is January 29, 2025. The Hans Sauer Foundation awards this prize annually and aims to use education as a motor for social change.

Education for sustainable development

An important aspect of education that is relevant to both the event and the Hans Sauer Prize is education for sustainable development (ESD). This is considered necessary for social transformation towards sustainability. According to one study by Dr. Mandy Singer-Brodowski and her colleagues identify leverage points for the structural anchoring of ESD in various educational areas, such as early childhood education, schools, vocational training and universities.

Efforts to disseminate ESD are an essential part of encouraging people to reflect on their role in society and develop creative solutions to the challenges of the future. The relevance of these topics is important not only regionally, but worldwide.
