Schwäbisch Gmünd supports international students with 2,000 euros!

International student exchange is very important in Schwäbisch Gmünd! On December 12, 2024, the “International Educational Exchange Schwäbisch Gmünd” (FIBAGD) foundation handed over checks for 1,000 euros each to the University of Education (PH) and the University of Design (HfG) in the town hall. These funds are intended to support American and Asian visiting students studying at these universities. The funding is intended to particularly benefit prospective teachers from Iowa State University who are currently gaining practical experience at local schools, such as the Parler High School and the Heubach Realschule Swabian Post reported.

But it's not just US students who benefit: the HfG will also use these funds to support two Asian students, who will find it much easier to pay the high tuition fees of 1,500 euros per semester in Baden-Württemberg. Such scholarships have been awarded since 2010, since the former Foundation for the Support of the University of Maryland University College was converted into its current form in order to promote international exchange. The foundation capital is financed through donations and income from the invested funds in order to maintain funding in the future. Thanks to the committed support of members of the foundation board and similar institutions, the scholarships can continue to be offered.
