New refugee accommodation in Schönkirchen: First insights and plans

Schönkirchen, Deutschland - In Schönkirchen, the Schrevenborn office opens a new chapter in terms of hospitality! The new refugee accommodation in Schönberger Landstrasse is at the start, despite still ongoing construction work and a garden that looks more like a construction site than Idylle. But that doesn't stop the curious! The first insights show white walls, hardly any furniture and many open works that should be ready by February or March, says Official Director Juliane Bohrer.

up to 50 people should find space here, but until then a lot has to happen. "White walls alone do not make a home," you could say. It becomes particularly interesting when you consider that The KN reported that the system is designed so that it should promote a mixed resident. From young families to older individuals: Diversity is the keyword here!

mixed culture in the new home

The concern of the Schönkirchen neighbors that only young men are accommodated here, drives drills in no time. Various generations and life stories should find a home here. Although the office has no control over who is assigned, it makes sure that a strong sense of community is built up. In addition to the future accommodation in Heikendorf and the mobile solution in Mönkeberg, the office proves that it does not do any things. The two -story building offers a total of 400 square meters, equipped by the Alho modular building company, with rooms for up to two people.

Niels Papke, project manager of Alho, gives an insight into the well -thought -out room layout: On the ground floor there are areas that are intended for several families, a barrier -free bathroom and separate living areas. On the other hand, four larger apartments are designed on the first floor. It almost sounds like the Schrevenborn office is a pioneer in modular living solutions.

a temporary home

The equipment of the rooms is also creatively and flexible. A bunk bed, two lockers and a small seating area are available by default, but at the request of the residents, individual pieces of furniture is also upgraded. A touch of your own initiative and personal character blows through the halls of this temporary home. But it is not intended for eternity: the building could also be well suited as a daycare center if the wave of refugees should be grown off.

The financial side of the entire project is also exciting. "5.4 million euros for the complete facilities," explains Bohrer impressively. But how high the final costs will actually be is only evident in the final payment in summer. No wonder that 1.2 million should be covered by funding.

When asked about the duration of the stay, Petra Bertig, head of the IV for Education and Social Affairs, brings light into the dark: "It depends entirely on how quickly you can find your own living spaces." The aim is to avoid homelessness and offer the residents a real chance. You receive support from the employees of the German Red Cross (DRK) and other social workers of the office.

and while the construction workers' containers will soon have disappeared, the modular buildings of Alho will remain for around 30 years. That may sound for a long time, but in times like this you never know when the next guest taps the door. Maybe then it will not only be living space, but also a daycare center, who knows?

And so the new accommodation in Schönkirchen shows with all the fact that hospitality is very important in this community. As recently also on threads was reported, the accommodation is a sign of lived solidarity and a home-sweet home for a time.
