Gender vortex at Absdorf elementary school: Parents demand intervention!
Today, November 15, 2025, the Absdorf elementary school in the Tulln district will be the scene of heated discussions. The FPÖ Tulln district party chairman LAbg. Andreas Bors expresses sharp criticism of the school and its registration form for children. Parents of children starting school were confronted with a form that not only included the classic options “male” and “female”, but also offered other categories such as “inter”, “diverse”, “open” and “no answer”. This multitude of gender options causes irritation among parents, who turn to FPÖ local councilor Daniel Hollensteiner in disbelief.
Hollensteiner describes the situation as absurd and describes the high number of gender statements as “crazy”. Andreas Bors also criticizes this approach. He describes the variety of options for primary school children as quixotic and warns that a small ideological scene exerts undue influence on the education system. Bors calls on the Education Directorate to remedy the situation that has been identified as a grievance and is pushing for normality to be restored in schools.
Reactions and demands
The discussion surrounding the registration form reached a further level of escalation when many parents expressed their dissatisfaction with the situation and called for the authorities to intervene. A father describes the diversity of gender options as problematic and fears ideological experiments being forced on the children. The FPÖ has positioned itself in this debate and speaks of such “ideological experiments” as unacceptable.
Bors insists on clear consequences from the Education Directorate and an end to the so-called “gender madness”. In response to the ongoing discussions, the Education Directorate explains that the design of the forms is in the hands of the schools and that there are no mandatory requirements. Discussions are currently taking place between representatives of the Absdorf elementary school, a quality manager and the school management in order to possibly simplify the form and address the concerns of parents.
Overall, the debate surrounding the registration form for the Absdorf elementary school shows the profound social differences in the perception and acceptance of gender identity and, moreover, the challenges that come with implementing such diversity in educational institutions. The discussion reflects which topics are currently being controversially discussed in Austrian society and how they influence the perception of education.
