Women's promotion in Burgenland: One step in the right direction!

In Burgenland, the continuing inequalities between men and women will be pointed out to celebrate the World Women's Day on March 8. According to the SPÖ state women's chairman Astrid Eisenkopf, the income difference between the sexes in Burgenland is 18 to 19 percent and thus above the Austrian average. Despite positive developments through initiatives such as the minimum wage and the free kindergarten, Eisenkopf sees great need for action to promote equality. The appointment of Eva-Maria Holzleitner is particularly welcomed as the new Minister of Women, who is considered important support for women's policy issues. Eisenkopf continues to be active as a state women's chairman and looks optimistically into the future of equality policy.

sustainable energy communities in Burgenland

The Burgenland plans to be climate -neutral by 2030. In this context, the 171 Burgenland communities play a central role. As The Akademie Burgenland , the formation of renewable energy communities (EEG) is considered the key to achieving this goal. Energy communities enable members - be it private individuals or communities - to produce and use electricity and warmth together. This communal approach has already shown initial success in the region, especially in Neudörfl, where a research project for sustainable energy supply was initiated. Mayor Dieter Posch was positive about the Initiative and emphasized that the market town is taking role models through the exit from fossil fuels in public buildings.

The orf Burgenland continued to report on the upcoming webinars on municipal energy generation as part of the EEG, which should clarify the municipal representatives about the possibilities of energy community. This strengthens the commitment to local and sustainable energy supply in the Burgenland communities, which should not only contribute to reducing energy costs, but also promotes environmental and climate protection.
