Arrest after serial burglaries: Police strike in Neunkirchen!
A 26-year-old man from Neunkirchen has been arrested for his alleged involvement in nine burglaries. The police discovered the suspect on December 13, 2024 in Villach based on an existing arrest order. It was previously known that the man had also traded stolen vehicles. The burglaries, which took place between September 6th and November 27th, 2024, caused him a total loss of 14,200 euros - including 4,200 euros in stolen cash, food and electronic devices. He confessed to all the crimes during police interrogation, as meinbezirk.at reported.
In another important event, the “Letter of Intent” to combat poverty in neighborhoods was signed in Neunkirchen on the same day. This marks the official start of the program, which was initiated by Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Magnus Jung, District Administrator Sören Meng and Mayor Lisa Hensler. The goal is to sustainably improve the social situation in a district that has been known as a center of poverty for years. Minister Jung explained that fighting poverty goes beyond financial support and includes education and social participation, which is supported by Diakonie Saar, which is already active on site. Diakonie offers numerous help options for people in difficult life situations, which underlines the relevance of the current measures, as diakonie-saar.de reported.
The new approach to combating poverty in Neunkirchen is primarily intended to create structures that not only provide short-term help, but also enable long-term changes. The networking of all those involved is emphasized as a central aspect in order to improve the quality of life for the 6,000 residents of the inner district. Within a decade, the aim is to revitalize the affected neighborhoods and create new perspectives.
