Digital future for Heilbronn schools: tablets for all students!
The digital future of schools in Heilbronn picks up speed: All 20,000 students and teachers in the city can soon use their own tablet or another mobile device free of charge. This ambitious project, which is known as a "digital educational offensive Heilbronn", was launched by the city of Heilbronn in cooperation with the Dieter Schwarz Foundation. Mayor Harry Mergel emphasizes that this is unique in his dimension in Germany for a big city. The focus is not only on the digital equipment, but also on equality of opportunities, a central goal of Heilbronn's education policy, as well as Dieter-schwarz-stiftung.de reported.
investments in the digital infrastructure
The city of Heilbronn and the Dieter Schwarz Foundation invest millions to improve the digital infrastructure of schools. In addition to the devices, the city also donates 4.5 million euros for cabling and network technology. The entire project runs until 2030 and is gradually implemented. So far, 2,100 tablets have already been distributed, and up to 10,000 are to follow in the coming months. The tablets remain the property of the city, but may also be used by the students at home for school purposes, as the Heilbronn voice informs.
Contact for the teachers is the Academy for Innovative Education and Management (AIM), which offers training to use the devices. 24 out of 35 urban schools have already expressed interest, and expectations are high that all schools will benefit from this Initiative in the end. The first students are particularly enthusiastic to work with the tablets and fight to find their place in digital lessons. The project is also intended to ensure that the use of the devices is designed to be very sensible and thus contributes to improving the learning environment.
