Fight against wind power: MFG warns of loss of natural landscapes!
In Upper Austria, the political debate about the 2025 state budget and the planned expansion of wind turbines is simmering. How ots.at reports, the MFG-Upper Austria under the leadership of LAbg. Manuel Krautgartner is asking critical questions in the budget debate. While it is about central social concerns such as supporting families and improving freedom of education, the MFG sees important issues not being taken into account in the budget. Krautgartner complains that politicians are setting the wrong priorities when dealing with the consequences of selected measures during the corona pandemic and the energy transition.
The focus on wind power is also sharply criticized by the MFG. It should be noted that the planned construction of up to 50 wind turbines in sensitive forest areas of the Mühlviertel not only endangers natural landscapes, but also puts pressure on communities. “We will check whether the wind power lobby is not acting in a criminally relevant manner,” explains Krautgartner, who also points out the temptations offered to communities and landowners through cash payments and cheaper electricity.
Dangers from wind power projects
The lack of transparency and the possible manipulation before votes are alarming for Krautgartner. The goal is not only to expand renewable energies, but also to preserve natural habitats that represent particular value for flora and fauna. Loud mfg-oe.at The MFG is firmly against planned wind power projects that could endanger the environment and people. “Our children and future generations should not suffer from the wrong decisions,” emphasizes Krautgartner. The MFG calls for a sustainable discussion that takes nature conservation and people's needs seriously and is not guided by short-term financial incentives.
