ÖBB starts fair play campaign: Respect on the train is mandatory!

The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) are facing alarming challenges. There is a serious problem behind the request “Please don’t get out of your skin” on the posters on trains: an increase in attacks on staff. Klaus Baumgartner, press spokesman for ÖBB, confirmed this Today.at that a total of 364 attacks on employees were reported last year, 88 of which resulted in injuries. With the new fair play campaign, ÖBB is trying to promote awareness of respectful cooperation. The campaign is supported by training, body cameras and security measures.

Creative approach to combat disrespectful behavior

A creative approach accompanies public education: comic images on the train and influencers are intended to appeal to younger passengers in particular and motivate them to be considerate. The focus is on issues such as volume, cleanliness and keeping seats free. Baumgartner emphasized that a pleasant trip for everyone is the top priority and that ÖBB is ready to support the staff for this. Attention to this issue is particularly important because good interpersonal communication and respectful behavior in public transport are crucial.

In addition to physical measures, it is emphasized that social and emotional intelligence is also of great importance in managing staff. According to an article on Harvard Business Review Managers must learn to focus their attention in order to effectively lead their employees and keep strategic goals in mind. Focused attention on yourself, others and the outside world forms the basis for successful leadership and improving the corporate environment. Only through a strong awareness can employers create a positive and safe working atmosphere while also responding to the needs of their employees.
