Amlach's kindergarten shines as the first Kneipp kindergarten in East Tyrol!
The kindergarten in Amlach was recognized as a “Kneipp kindergarten” on October 24, 2025. This honor is based on the integration of the Kneipp philosophy, which promotes holistic health promotion in everyday life. Annemarie Warl, the chairwoman of the Kneipp regional association in Carinthia, presented the certificate to the kindergarten director Ingrid Kollreider and her dedicated team.
Three teachers at the kindergarten have completed comprehensive training in the five pillars of the Kneipp program. These pillars include water treatments, medicinal herbs, nutrition, exercise and life order. The children's parents and representatives of the Lienz Kneipp Active Club were actively involved in the development process and support the initiative sustainably. Alberta Ortner, chairwoman of the Lienz Kneipp Active Club, praised the collaboration of the Amlach team, which significantly contributed to the success of the project.
Role model function for the region
Mayor Stefan Clara expressed his joy about the kindergarten's pioneering role as a certified Kneipp facility. The kindergarten thus offers a model project for the entire region. During the ceremonial appointment, not only the mayor and Annemarie Warl were present, but also representatives of the Kneipp Active Club Lienz as well as the Amlach children and teachers who shared this special moment.
The Kneipp philosophy, which is over 150 years old, is based on a health concept developed by Sebastian Kneipp. Kneipp, who himself suffered from severe tuberculosis, experienced a turning point in his health through his water treatment, which he successfully used. This positive experience led to him becoming known as the “Water Doctor” and laid the foundation for a comprehensive health movement that continues to this day. The core idea of this philosophy is to create positive effects in people's lives through targeted practices. This is often referred to as a “Kneipp moment” in which individual experiences can have a groundbreaking meaning.
The five pillars of the Kneipp philosophy
The Kneipp philosophy is based on five central pillars that enable a holistic view of people. These pillars are:
- Wasseranwendungen
- Bewegungstherapie (aktiv und passiv)
- Gesunde Ernährung (ausgewogen und vielseitig)
- Heilkraft der Kräuter
- Innere Balance (persönliche Lebensführung)
The holistic approach that Kneipp developed around 150 years ago quickly became known beyond his homeland and found acceptance in many parts of the world, including North America at the turn of the 20th century.
The kindergarten in Amlach is not only a place for early education, but also a model for health promotion and holistic learning in the region, which is inspired by the tradition of the Kneipp philosophy. Further information about the Kneipp philosophy can be found on Kneipp and the five pillars on Kneippverband.
