Future of tourism in Vorarlberg: Dialog brings new impulses!
Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - On March 19, 2025, there was a significant exchange between Heike Ladurner-Strolz, the Vice President of the Austrian Hoteliervereinigung (ÖHV), and the State Tourist Councilor Marco Tittler. Ladurner-Strolz paid tribute to Tittler's commitment to dialogue with the representatives of around 15 leading tourism companies in Vorarlberg. The focus of the talks focused on important future issues such as the distribution of tasks between Vorarlberg Tourism and various destination associations as well as the development of capacities and the use of resources in the tourism sector. A central topic was also the planned public mobility concept for guests, including its financing, which raises many questions, such as ÖHV reported.
political initiatives for gender equality
In addition, important EU projects were discussed in a recent debate in the Federal Council under the chairmanship of Federal Councilor Heike Eder, BSC MBA (ÖVP, Vorarlberg) in relation to the world of work. Eder focused on the gender equality and the pressing challenges with which women are faced with the labor market. On the occasion of the support of the EU strategies, which are associated with measures to transparency, it became clear that Austria had one of the greatest wage differences between men and women in a European comparison. The Gender Paygap was 19.9 percent in 2019, which makes the urgency of political measures to combat this inequality. The lead motif of these steps is the need to create framework conditions that enable women and men to participate equally in economic life, as in the protocol of Parlamentes held. The politically required measures include the introduction of automatic pension splitting and the expansion of childcare offers, especially in rural areas. These initiatives are intended to ensure that parents, especially mothers, do not slip into poverty in old age while taking over the majority of child rearing. By strengthening the gender equality in the workplace, the EU also wants to increase the presence of women in management positions in order to optimize company performance, which could have other positive effects on the entire economy.
