Christmas magic for everyone: 200 menus for the needy in Biberach!

In the festive time of the pre -Christmas, Biberach shows how community spirit can work: Kurt Schökle, operator of the Salad & Lunch Box, sets a sign of solidarity with his project "Simply doing good". On December 23, he will prepare about 200 free Christmas menus for socially disadvantaged people from the region. This impressive initiative receives valuable support from the league of the Free Welfare Associations in the Biberach district, which coordinates the issue of vouchers and the necessary contacts with the target group. "It is not a matter of course that everyone can enjoy a warm, festive meal. We hope to bring a little joy with our offer," explains Schökle.

The roots of this aid campaign go back three years when Schökle initiated a Christmas dinner together in the Martin Luther parish hall. Due to the high inhibition threshold, there was a crucial turn last year: the menus were offered to take away, which made it possible for many to enjoy the festive food. This year, people can count on delicate dishes such as ducking owls and chicken schnitzel, accompanied by various salads and sweet delicacies from local bakery. The Christmas dishes are issued on Monday, December 23, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Schwanenstraße 2 in Biberach.

But such projects are only possible through donations. Kurt Schökle and his team trust in numerous supporters and suppliers. The league of the Free Welfare Associations, which also includes Caritas and Diakonie, expresses itself optimistically: "We are grateful for the commitment and the possibilities that this initiative offers us," says Thomas Opitz, chairman of the league. The district of Biberach, which is located on an area of ​​1,410 square kilometers in Upper Swabia and counts over 206,000 inhabitants, shows with its community spirit that even in difficult times, people and this initiative have personal support, whereby the low unemployment rate of 2.8 % in 2023 underlines that there are many access to the labor market.
