New residential project in favorites: Refugees are moving into luxury apartments!

In the middle of controversy, the city of Vienna has launched a new residential project at Favoritenstraße 185, which is intended exclusively for refugee families. According to a report by Krone , over 110 modern apartments with air conditioning, balconies and terraces were built. The first residents, all of whom are entitled to asylum and can be able to work, are to move into their new apartments in the next two weeks. These high -quality units were originally intended for private rental, but now they are part of a pilot project by the Diakonie and the City of Vienna.

editions and Integration

In order to promote the integration of refugee families, all adult residents have to sign a care contract. This obliges you to actively participate in integration measures, language acquisition and work search. Diakonie plans to offer the residents advice and training directly in the house. Like Kosmo , the project ensures mixed reactions among the residents. Some of them are concerned and wonder why refugees are again housed in their district, which is already considered a hotspot for migrants.

Although the city and the diakonia emphasize that the refugee families have to pay for the living space itself, it remains unclear when these payments can begin. Many of the new residents still need support to prepare for the labor market. The project is initially created in a period of 18 months, which raises questions about the long -term future of the residential complex.
