New employment workshop in Villach: opportunities for long -term unemployed!

Technologiepark Villach, Österreich - On March 24, 2025, the new GPS Carinthia employment workshop was opened in the Villach technology park. This facility offers an area of around 240 square meters and is equipped with modern workshops, social rooms and office space. The workshop aims to offer support for people with disadvantaged people, such as over 50-year-olds, people with health restrictions, long-term unemployed and people at risk of poverty.

The official opening took place in the presence of Peter Wedenig from the labor market service (AMS) Carinthia, Alfred Schuh from GPS and other guests. Mayor Günther Albel emphasized the importance of qualified employees for the region. AMS-Official Office Petra Draxl attached particular importance to the need for regional, low-threshold projects to combat long-term unemployment.

The employment workshop offers a wide range of offers. These include manual and creative activities, cleaning and green space care as well as social pedagogical support. Measures such as competence assessments, training on the job and individual case management should promote professional integration. The aim is not only to increase employment, but also to sustainably improve the quality of life of the people concerned.

This underlines GPS Carinthia, which has been active in the integration of people into the labor market for over 25 years, the importance of focusing on individual needs. The new workshop is financed by around 650,000 euros of the Austria Labor Market Service, while the property was made available by the city of Villach.

The opening takes place in a context that is characterized by various labor market policy initiatives. The Ministry of Labor introduces a variety of programs to support the integration of long -term unemployed. A newly introduced initiative, the training surcharge, offers incentives for longer training periods and is comprehensively introduced at the latest. This amount of 2.60 euros per day is intended to avoid long -term abortions and increase the employment opportunities. This support is even doubled in training courses that last longer than four months.

The Heavy of Parts, which has been in force since the beginning of 2019, provides important funding instruments. It ensures that companies that hire the long -term unemployed are relieved by wage grants. Despite these comprehensive measures, the awareness of the funding opportunities is reserved for different operating types. Around a quarter of the companies are informed about the measures, with smaller companies being underproportional.

Long -term unemployment remains a central problem. For example, initiatives such as the Corona-Joboffensive have reached over 200,000 people to create sustainable employment prospects and to promote integration into the labor market.
