Los Ángeles and Mexico: Strong alliance to protect compatriots!
Los Ángeles, Kalifornien, USA - The city of Los Angeles remains an unwavering ally Mexico in the defense of Mexican citizens. In a meeting on December 22, 2024, the Mayor Karen Bass and Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente intended to strengthen bilateral relationships and promote projects that use both Mexican and the American communities, such as Excélsior . Bass and the city councils responsible for Los Angeles, including Hugo Soto Martínez, Eunisses Hernández and Imelda Padilla, had previously submitted an application to proclaim the city as a "sanctuary" for immigrants.
Juan Ramón de la Fuente, which was appointed Mexican Foreign Minister on October 1, 2024, emphasized that the Mexican community in Los Angeles, the largest in the USA, made a decisive contribution to the economic development of the state. This community contributes to prosperity through tax payments and high participation in the labor market. De la Fuente, whose career extends over several significant positions, including the Minister of Health and Rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, was optimistic about the future cooperation and the initiatives to support Mexican citizens in the United States, such as Wikipedia Exped.
The meeting between Bass and de la Fuente is part of a larger strategy to strengthen Mexico's diplomatic relationships and to promote the Mexicans living in the USA. In this context, the city of Los Angeles will continue to remain independent of spring immigration laws and proactively campaign for the rights and protection of its citizens.
