Kölly is fighting for a new mandate: Return of the yellow in Burgenland?

Deutschkreutz, Österreich - Manfred Kölly, the leading head of the new “yellow party” in Burgenland, plans his return to politics while he is applying for his fourth term in the state parliament. This was announced in an interview with the Krone and at an upcoming press conference that is scheduled for Thursday. Kölly, who previously served as Mayor of Deutschkreutz, has an eventful past: in 2020 he was sentenced to a conditional prison sentence of 17 months for abuse of office. Despite these setbacks, he remains optimistic and focuses on the upcoming National Council elections, where he wants to fight for seats with his new color.

his goal is to secure a basic mandate for the yellow party in the National Council in order to be represented with eight MPs in the parliamentary landscape. "We have to reach about eight percent in Burgenland to arrive," said Kölly. A central theme of his political agenda is migration, in which he places a comprehensive requirement for the Integration of immigrants. So he demands that those who want to stay that have to be dominated by the German language and integrated into the labor market. "The fears and challenges are real, but we can overcome the hurdles," he explains, while he emphasizes the need to openly discuss topics such as minimum wages and migration.

Kölly’s vision for the future

Kölly is 70 years old, but his energy and political commitment seem unbroken. As an experienced figure in state politics, he wants to stand up with the Burgenland list against the absolute majority of the SPÖ. "Politicians have to show more common sense again," said Kölly, who is convinced that the challenges in society must be addressed. In addition to migration, he also addresses the pressing topics such as energy prices and inflation. "We have the highest inflation rate in Europe, and it is time to find solutions that have a positive effect on the living environment of the people," he explains in his speech.
