Young women in Lower Austria: Emmy bus brings opportunities despite obstacles!
The current figures on the employment rate in Lower Austria draw a worrying picture: Latest data show that only 62.4 percent of young men and 56.3 percent of young women have employment. The difference in people with a migration background is particularly striking: 76.5 percent of men are employed here, but only 62.2 percent of women. This inequality is one of the reasons why the labor market service (AMS) Lower Austria launched the advisory project "Emmy - Empower MySelf" in order to offer young women between 15 and 25 years of support, as reports.
The EMMY program was launched in October 2024 and aims to support up to 300 young women in integration into the labor market. The Emmy bus tours throughout Lower Austria, holds at trade fairs and educational institutions and provides a protected space in which individual advice can arrive. Sandra Kern, the state manager of the AMS, emphasizes the importance of such offers, especially for women with a migration background, to enable them to make a self -determined life. Despite the increase in the advisory services, only 56 women currently use the program, the costs of which amount to 712,000 euros and are fully borne by the AMS, so Ams.at .
