Integration of refugees: women in family reunification fight for professional start
A new study by the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) on behalf of the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) shows alarming results for the integration of followed up -to -date asylum enthusiasts in Austria. The data of 12,500 asylum seekers, including 2,500 family -parasitics, show that this group is integrated much more slowly into the labor market and has significant difficulties when learning the German language. Only 8 % of the women who have followed are gained in the first three years, while the employment rate of women who directly applied for asylum is 19 %. It is also worrying that 46 % of the people drawn up consist of female members who mostly remain in patriarchal structures and acquire rare knowledge of German.
The results illustrate the challenges, especially for young men and women who are drawn. For men, only 41 % are employed in the mercy, compared to 57 % of the original asylum seekers. This is particularly drastically evident in Syrian aftermath, where only 34 % have found a job. At the same time, follow -up women need more time in language acquisition in terms of access to courses: they less often take part in German courses than women who have requested asylum directly. However, the ÖIF offers an extensive integration and language program that is intended to help the refugees find a connection faster, which is of great importance in view of the situation.
Special protection for women
In Germany, the situation of women and girls among asylum seekers is also difficult. Around 30 % of asylum seekers are women and girls who have special protection needs in many cases. These include underage, pregnant women or single women as well as victims of human trafficking or severe violence. According to the EU receiving guideline, these persons are entitled to necessary medical and material help, whereby the accommodation must be coordinated with their individual needs. There are also specific guidelines in Germany that are supposed to promote violence in refugee accommodation, but implementation is often inadequate. It is therefore crucial that further measures are taken in both Austria and Germany to ensure the integration and protection of women and protected groups.
