Integration in the care sector: Ukrainian specialists receive opportunities in Austria!

In Austria, around 78,000 people currently live from Ukraine, but less than a third of them have a job. In order to counteract this urgent problem, the "All for Ukraine" association has initiated an innovative care project together with the Senecura Group. The aim is to integrate refugees from Ukraine as nurses instead of recruiting workers from countries such as India or the Philippines, as club president Cornelius Granig stated. The initiative's first successes are already shown: It is currently being worked on to introduce a further 20 nurses from Ukraine to the Austrian labor market after some have already been used as assistants in care facilities to acquire the necessary knowledge of German during their working hours.

integration and support

The Senecura Group, the largest private provider in the field of long -term care in Austria, is an active partner in this mission. "We have already employed three refugees from Ukraine in our facilities," said the international recruiting manager of the Senecura Group, Mag. Johannes Wallner. This support is promoted by Andreas Achrainer, the refugee coordinator of the Austrian federal government, who emphasized how important systematic help is to enable the displaced people to have a career in the Austrian care and health system. "This special funding program is a significant way to open up a new professional path to these people," added Achrainer, while Granig said that due to the high training standards of Ukrainian nursing staff, a valuable specialist in the Austrian market is growing up.

Furthermore, the "Ukraine jobs" initiative provides information about various employment opportunities and brings refugees together with local companies who are desperately looking for specialists. The case of Daria Aslikyan, a qualified nurse from Ukraine, is described, which with the help of the initiative found a job at Senecura. The success of these programs is also underpinned by the fact that at the beginning of 2025 over 24,000 people from Ukraine were employed in Austria. The continuous support of the initiative could thus help relieve the long -term care in Austria, while at the same time the refugee specialists opened a new way of life.
