Green professions on the upswing: information day for new opportunities in horticulture!

Ekkehard-Hauer-Straße 33, 8052 Graz, Österreich - In Styria, the demand for green jobs is booming! The working alliance, founded in spring 2023, has set itself the task of training people in future -oriented, climate -relevant professions. In 2024, around 1,100 people have already started a qualification in these areas - a gratifying increase compared to over 950 in 2023. The decline in pure training, which was still 900 in 2023, is particularly noteworthy and are now supplemented by practical training positions in local companies. Yvonne Popper-Pieber, the deputy AMS state manager, emphasizes that this is a strong signal for covering the enormous need for skilled workers in the region, such as ORF Styria reported .

Two thirds of the training take place directly in horticultural companies, while the rest includes theoretical content at the Landesferschule Großwilfersdorf. Erwin Plettnig, owner of a western Styrian gardening company, emphasizes the enormous appreciation for adult apprentices: "You are interested and grateful that you as an adult have again received the chance of training," he said in an interview - a perspective that is also supported by Josefine Vötsch, division and labor market in LFI Styria. For all those who are interested in these training paths, there will be an information day in the Styria yard on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The Ams Styria .
