Driver's license test: equal opportunities for young people with learning difficulties!

Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - The acquisition of the driver's license should not be an insurmountable hurdle for all young people, especially for those with learning and reading difficulties. AK President Andreas Stangl emphasized as part of the "Scheinonme" project, which is carried out in Upper Austria. Many young people fight in the theoretical examination of the driving license - a challenge that can significantly affect their professional opportunities. The driver's license often represents a fundamental prerequisite for numerous professions. This is reinforced by the 1,500 questions, which has an overwhelming effect without suitable learning strategies and support for many, as Jugend reported at Werk GmbH.

challenges and solutions

The "Scheinonme" project analyzes the complexity of the examination and preparation system to ensure equal opportunities for young learners. The results showed that the need for support is much higher than previously assumed. From coaching and learning aids to examination simulations - the initiative aims to convey young people the necessary skills and the knowledge they need for the theoretical examination. Scientific supports, including focus groups and interviews, are carried out in order to document the progress made and to evaluate possible successes, according to the information about the project.

Stangl emphasizes the importance of this measure: "The driver's license should not be an insurmountable hurdle, especially if it is required for many professions." The pressure on young people with learning difficulties is enormous, and the multitude of linguistic and content hurdles, as they occur in the exam questions, often leads to a double disadvantage. Therefore, there is an urgent need for action to offer these young people fair opportunities to acquire their driver's license and thus improve their perspectives on the labor market, especially in a program that is funded by the AK training fund.

The initiative illustrates the high need for support, which exists to promote the integration of young people into the world of work. This concern is actively promoted by the youth at Werk GmbH and other partners in order to finally ensure equal opportunities for driving license acquisition, as is explained in detail in the reports.
