Unemployment in the production area: an alarming increase!
Tirol, Österreich - The situation on the labor market is tightening: Unemployment in Vorarlberg shows worrying trends, especially in the production area. According to the AMS regional manager Bernhard Bereuter, the vacancies in this industry have dropped by a total of 40 percent, while the number of unemployed rose by 3.3 percent. This means that many people are without a job, while at the same time the possibilities for returning to working life are severely restricted, as vorarlberg.orf reported.
growing unemployment and qualification measures
Currently 10,707 people are registered as unemployed. It is frightening that almost half of these unemployed only have a compulsory school leaving certificate as the highest qualification. In addition, 296 young people are currently looking for apprenticeships, although 1,193 positions are available. In order to counteract the situation, AMS has increased participation in training programs: 2,659 people are currently taking part in such measures, an increase of 10.2 percent compared to the previous year. This shows that you want to actively use the current phase with less personnel demand to improve the qualifications, such as Vol.at point out.
The unemployment rate in Vorarlberg is now 5.7 percent and is therefore the third -lowest in the country, behind Tyrol and Salzburg. In a nationwide comparison, the unemployment rate is 8.1 percent. However, the development in the production area raises questions and requires immediate measures to combat increasing unemployment and to support people in qualification measures.
