Warning strike for transport companies: Plön stands still!
A dramatic standstill in traffic! The employees and trainees of the Verkehrsbetriebe Kreis Plön (VKP) have started a three -day warning strike that brings mobility in the region to a standstill. Frank Schischefsky from the Verdi union said in the morning: "The traffic stands still!" The locations Plön, Preetz, Schönberg, Lütjenburg, Bornhöved and Kiel are particularly affected. While the strike flags have been blowing in the private bus industry in Schleswig-Holstein for weeks, the protest in the district of Plön is directed against the nationwide negotiated railway collective agreement (ETV).
The warning strike will last until the end of the shift on Wednesday and aim to increase the pressure on the upcoming negotiations on December 5 in Fulda. Markus Jakupak, the responsible union secretary for the VKP, emphasized the need to achieve a result. Around 5,500 employees in six federal states-including Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Rhineland-Palatinate-are affected by these negotiations. The companies that fall under the ETV include bus operations, rail traffic and freight railways.
Set a sign for better conditions
The warning strike is a powerful sign of the employees who fight for better working conditions and fair wages. The effects are noticeable and travelers have to adapt to massive restrictions in public transport. With this step, the Verdi union shows that it is ready to fight for the rights of the employees and to promote negotiations with reprint.
