The managing director of the AMS Carinthia, Peter Wedenig, stated that unemployment increased by 6.9 percent in February, while long -term unemployment fell by 1.1 percent. Surprising is the increase of 11 percent among young people under the age of 25, which combines Carinthia with an average of 10.9 percent in Austria. A total of 2,111 young people are looking for a job, while the number of open places has reduced to 5,036, which corresponds to a decrease of 8 percent. An alarming situation is also evident in Switzerland, where, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco), unemployment rose by 2.8 percent in October, which corresponds to 116,447 unemployed people. This corresponds to an increase of 24.5 percent compared to the same month, and the number of vacancies has also dropped significantly, the colleagues of 20 minutes.
