Inclusion in Burgenland: for a world of work without barriers!

Wiener Straße 77, 7000 Eisenstadt, Österreich - On December 3, the international day of people with disabilities is celebrated worldwide, a day that aims to raise awareness of the challenges of people with disabilities. The Chamber of Labor (AK) renewed its commitment to the professional integration of people with disabilities on the occasion of this day. AK President Gerhard Michalitsch emphasizes that the inclusion of people with disabilities is a social responsibility that goes far beyond mere legal requirements. "Inclusion is not just a catchphrase, but lived reality," he explains. The AK is committed to ensuring that companies with 25 or more employees fulfill their duty to hire beneficiaries, since only 157 out of 647 companies in Burgenland are currently fulfilling them.

active for inclusion and fair remuneration

The Chamber of Labor calls for an increase in the compensation tax, which is intended to encourage companies to employ more people with disabilities. This tax is due for companies that do not meet their obligation to hire. Michalitsch demands: "It must not be that companies buy themselves from their responsibility - the compensation stax must achieve at least the lowest collective wage." In addition, the AK requires fair wages and social security in day workshops and wants to increase the number of socio -economic companies in order to facilitate access to the labor market.

Furthermore, the AK emphasizes the example of the Burgenland Georg Tischler, a former top athlete and Paralympics gold medalist. Tischler's story shows how valuable people with disabilities are for society. The AK not only supports him in sports, but also wants to record his moving life story in a book. Michalitsch is pleased to write the foreword for Tischler's book and sees it a source of inspiration for everyone, regardless of the challenges that life has. In order to promote the exchange and support for disabled employees, the AK also points to the important role of the disabled confidence in the companies.

the ORF also merged in its media to draw attention to the international day of people with disabilities, and offers, including offers that meet the topic. Subtitles, audio description and Austrian sign language ensure that all people, regardless of their skills, are given access to the content, as ORF Burgenland reports.

The AK Burgenland sees the integration of people with disabilities not only as an obligation, but also as an opportunity for all companies to benefit from the talents and skills of this often overlooked group, which could shape the future of the world of work in Burgenland, as well as the Workers' Chamber
