The uncertainty about educational leave increases. According to Silvia Hofbauer, head of the labor market and integration of the Vienna Chamber of Labor, significantly more inquiries have been registered for consultations in recent weeks. This was also confirmed by the departments of the labor market service (AMS) in the federal states compared to 5 minutes. The educational leave enables employees to be released from the work performance in order to complete further training measures. It takes between two and twelve months and is financially supported by the AMS, whereby the amount of the further training allowance corresponds to the fictional unemployment benefit.

Currently the educational leave remains, since its abolition can only be made through a change in the law. The AMS Vienna said that active educational carts can continue to be maintained, even if a new government - probably consisting of FPÖ and ÖVP - is considering a deletion. Hofbauer emphasizes that people who should be affected by changes during their educational leave can hope for support by appeal if necessary. "Until then, the current legal situation applies," assures the AMS.
Another challenge is that there is no legal claim on educational leave, which means that the employer's approval is required. During the exemption, employees are also allowed to achieve an additional income as long as it does not exceed the minor limit of 551.10 euros per month. Further training measures are diverse and can take place at home or abroad as long as there is a professional reference.
