Knowledge test inspires: Fire brigade youth in Gmunden impresses with performance!

The Gmunden district was teeming with young energy on March 15, 2025! The spectacular knowledge test of the fire brigade youth took place in the Altmünster fire station, in which an impressive 313 boys and girls took part. This exciting exam covered both theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to fire service training. The participants also had to demonstrate their skills at stations on topics such as equipment and knot knowledge as well as first aid. District fire brigade commander OBR Thomas Dreiblmeier expressed satisfaction with the performance of the young firefighters, presenting a total of 135 bronze, 101 silver and 77 gold badges, which reflects the excellent preparation of the support teams. The Gmunden district fire brigade command has once again proven how seriously the youth fire brigade is taken.

Young heroes on the rise

This knowledge test has been a tried and tested format for preparing young firefighters for active service in the volunteer fire department since 1983. In the past, too, the knowledge test has established itself as an important part of the training process - how meinkreis.at reported that only 236 young firefighter members took part in the test in 2019. With the increasing number of participants, the fire brigade youth not only demonstrates a growing interest in this voluntary work, but also the excellent work of the youth carers and helpers in the Gmunden district.

The commitment of the young firefighters is an impressive sign for their future. All in all, the knowledge test shows how important training and imparting knowledge are in the fire service sector. As they prepare for various emergencies, they also develop team spirit and a sense of responsibility, which will benefit them later in life.
