Give away animals? Animal shelter warn of Christmas errors!

Lebrade, Deutschland - In Germany, the fate of animals in need is more relevant than ever at the end of the year. While the Kossau animal shelter in LeBrade pleads for animals not to be Christmas presents, the Berlin animal shelter has to deal with an overnight number of emergencies. The central concern of the employees of both facilities is to ensure a responsible mediation of pets and at the same time create the correct care conditions.

In the Kossau animal shelter, 29 cats and three dogs currently live, which urgently are looking for a loving home. Employee Kemal Besic emphasizes that the delivery of an animal should be carefully considered. He reports on experiences in which potential owners have proven to be unsuitable for lying on their living situation. In addition, the shelter recently had to record 20 West Highland Terrier, which were in poor condition. These must now be looked after in foster families before they are ready for mediation. The mediation process is difficult because demand is often higher than the supply of suitable animals and holders.

The Berlin animal shelter has an even bigger challenge with almost 1,300 animals. Many of the animals come from difficult conditions and require intensive care. There are currently around 250 foster homes, but that's not enough to do justice to all animals. Nursing coordinator Martina Winkler emphasizes that help is urgently needed, especially for children with special needs and list dogs. There are no costs for the people who want to absorb an animal for temporary time because they are covered by the shelter. So people who are currently unable to afford a pet can gain experience with animals.

Both animal shelters face the challenge of giving the animals the best possible care, with financial support and volunteers being essential.
