Smoking sweepers bring luck for the new year - Mistelbach celebrates 2025!

The chimney sweepers of the Mistelbach district brought their traditional New Year wishes on January 1, 2025. The State Guild Master STV. Adalbert Svec brought the greetings to District Header Gerlinde Draxler, who are representative of all citizens of the district. SVEC proudly emphasized that the craft of the chimney sweepers is recognized as an intangible UNESCO cultural heritage. This underlines the importance and tradition of this craft, which is rooted in the region.

The successes of the youngsters among the chimney sweepers should be particularly emphasized. At the federal apprentice championships, Mike Leon Kössler from the Libal KG apprenticeship in Mistelbach took first place, followed by Mark Winkler from the SVEC Adalbert training company in Asparn/Zaya in second place. Landtag President Karl Wilfing congratulated the young talents and was enthusiastic about their achievements. "With such outstanding performance and committed young smoke traps, luck in the Mistelbach district is guaranteed," said Wilfing.

The two award winners also enjoy a very special highlight: they have the opportunity to visit the Hofburg and personally deliver their best New Year wishes to Federal President Alexander van der Bellen. This is a valuable recognition for your work and the tradition of starting smoke in the region. The company SVEC, active in the fields of fire protection and maintenance, also benefits from this tradition and has been ensuring security in the Mistelbach region for over 10 generations by offering extensive information about fire risks and prevention measures, as Svec reports.
