Radiology in Scheibbs: 30 years of state-of-the-art diagnostics and commitment!
The 30th anniversary of the Institute of Radiology was recently celebrated at the Scheibbs State Hospital. At this festive event, employees had the opportunity to tour the modern facilities and sophisticated radiology facilities. State Councilor Ludwig Schleritzko paid tribute to the committed team: “Today, personally and on behalf of the Scheibbs State Hospital, I would particularly like to thank the radiology team for the valuable work that is carried out here with so much commitment in a very diverse field of tasks.” These words underline the central role of radiology in the country's medical care. oe24 reported that the department began taking x-rays in 1911 and has developed rapidly since then.
Over the last three decades, radiology has developed into an indispensable part of the hospital. In 1965, only 520 X-ray examinations were carried out, while in 2024 around 33,000 X-ray images were taken. In addition to X-rays and fluoroscopy, the service offers around 6,000 computer tomography scans and around 3,000 ultrasound examinations every year. Under the direction of Prim. Dr. Arnold Heisinger and radiology technologist Gerald Eibner, the team, consisting of specialists and medical-technical experts, coordinates the diagnoses. In addition, CT-assisted biopsies and minimally invasive procedures, such as percutaneous abscess drainage, are increasingly being carried out, as well as by OTS reports.
A look at the future of radiology
Technical development goes hand in hand with human contact. Despite the digital transmission of results, personal exchange with patients remains essential for the radiology team. This applies to elective and interventional activities as well as advanced digital diagnostic options. The team will continue to strive to improve the quality of medical care through innovative techniques and a deep understanding of the needs of patients, emphasizes the management of the state hospital.
