New mayor in Petronell Carnuntum: ÖVP breaks SPÖ dominance!
at the meeting of the Petronell Carnuntum municipal council on March 18, 2025, the new mayor was elected. Leonard Brassat, the candidate of the ÖVP, prevailed with 10 out of 19 votes and succeeds Martin Almstädter (SPÖ). Oliver Küffe (FPÖ) was chosen as Vice Mayor, also with 10 votes. The citizens in Lower Austria elected a new local council in 568 municipalities on January 26, 2025. A total of 1,307,510 voters were loaded. The ÖVP competed in all communities, while the SPÖ in 538, the FPÖ in 444, the Greens in 116 and the Neos were present in 52 communities. This choice was particularly important because the ÖVP was able to assert voting gains in many elections in various communities and, in some cases, the absolute majority. In Hollabrunn, the ÖVP celebrated a success with 38.79 percent of the vote, despite a loss from the absolute majority, while the FPÖ grew to 16.51 percent. The electorate also clearly showed that the work of the citizens' representatives was rewarded how the results of the local council elections illustrate throughout the state.
