Markus Thielemann inspires in Hoya: A look behind the scenes of the Heide!

Hoya, Deutschland - A literary highlight took place in Hoya on Thursday: The celebrated author Markus Thielemann presented his award -winning novel "From the north rolls a thunder". Around 100 enthusiastic listeners met in the Martinskirche cultural center to experience the 32-year-old writer, who lives in Hanover today. Thielemann, who is on the shortlist for the German Book Prize with his work, read from his book and gave insights into the creative process behind the history of the young Heideschäfer Jannes Kohlmeyer. Originally, the author wanted to illuminate the topic of wolf in the Lüneburg Heath, but met with his research on countless other surprises that make the image of the region appear more complex, such as dieharke.de reported.

The author and his novel

In his novel,

Thielemann combines urgent descriptions of the rural idyll with the challenges that this region currently has to master. Press voices praise the book as "dark, mystical and overwhelming good" with a clear focus on the "supposed idyll" and its dark sides. Critics such as the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Lifting emerges that Thielemann draws "a world in transition" that addresses questions about identity and the tensions between city and country.

The reading in Hoya was also an opportunity for the audience to get into conversation with Thielemann and to have personal copies of his book signed. The great interest of the most diverse age groups underlines the charm of his work, which is not only literary outstanding, but also raises relevant social issues. Even if his third novel is not yet in the works, Thielemann already has ideas for future stories that are expected to address the north again. There will be another reading in autumn 2025 in Wietzen, which already arouses great interest.
