Carinthian women's report 2024: Urgent need for action for equality!

According to the reports, Carinthia is only in the middle of the equality index, which primarily concerns the areas of financial equality, political participation and violence. Of the 36 members of the state parliament, there are only six women. In addition, the police recorded 833 bans and rapprochement bans this year due to violence against women. The report "Women in Carinthia 2024" shows both positive developments, such as in the areas of education and childcare, as well as significant need for action in various other areas. Despite a part -time rates of almost 50 percent, women have significantly lower income on average - in 2023 they worked “free” in Carinthia. The demands are clear: women have to be better secured, the fair distribution of care work is promoted and measures under violence law are significantly improved. "It is urgently needed that the political decision -makers stand out together for equality between women," said Schaar. The state government must also move the authorities to act in order to distribute the often invisible work of women in both professional and family context. In addition, targeted promotion of women in MINT subjects is sought in order to better integrate them into management positions. The path to equality remains long, but the report forms the basis for future, sustainable changes in Carinthia.
