Help for the Ukraine: Gießen district sends fire engine and more!
An exciting aid project! The district of Gießen recently put together an extensive aid package for its partner municipality in Ukraine. This includes the handover of a used, upgraded fire engine worth 14,000 euros and battery -operated devices to ensure energy supply. These relief supplies are intended for important facilities such as a hospital and the fire brigade in Tschernihiw, which are under considerable pressure due to the devastating war, as district administrator Anita Schneider explains. The measures accelerate the urgently needed exchange with the Ukrainian delegation, which was on site in October, and clarify what is actually needed to support the people in the region.

"We really appreciate the sympathy and thank you very much for the support," she added to the handover on the site of the German Red Cross, as Landbote.info reported.
The solidarity partnership between the district of Gießen and the Tschernihiw region has existed since 2023, and the support was urgently needed after a devastating rocket attack on the Ukrainian community. This donation movement also collects medical devices and technical aids that are of great importance for the work of schools, hospitals and kindergartens in Ukraine. The other supporters include the DRK district association Marburg-Gießen and the JUH, each providing a ambulance. These vehicles are now used in Ukraine to help the injured person. "We would like to help where help is needed," said DRK CEO Christian Betz.
